Target Learners
The course targets currently employed workers in a full-time or part-time food processing operators working in large sized organisation. As a Food Processing Operator and/or Food packaging Operator, the learner:

Monitors the progress and quality of food products.

Is responsible for operating and maintaining the machines that carry out these processes.

Is responsible for the operation, monitoring and adjustment of the packaging equipment consistent with production needs and quality standards.

Is responsible for producing finished products according to preapproved instructions and ensuring that the necessary calibrations are performed, records kept, and that premises and equipment are maintained.
Qualifications and Employment Pathways
Pathway into the qualification is suitable for either direct entry or progression from FBP20121 Certificate II in Food Processing.
Pathway from the qualification includes FBP40321 Certificate IV in Food Processing.
This qualification caters for multi-skilled outcomes and roles that team leader functions within the production environment. This qualification will further the learner’s knowledge and capability in food processing. Learners may be interested in roles from the following areas but not limited to:

FBP30121 Certificate III in Food Processing
Qualification Description:
This program is being offered as a qualification for learners wanting to complete the qualification of Certificate III in Food Processing. This qualification specifies the competencies required for individuals working in operational roles in larger food processing sites, where the work is mainly automated and large scale. They are required to work autonomously, use judgement, interpret information and apply solutions to routine and some non-routine problems. They may also take some responsibility for the output of others. This training program is suitable for experienced operators and also serves as a pathway for further learning.
Entry requirements
There are no formal entry requirements for entry to FBP30121. However, it should be noted that this qualification reflects the role of individuals required to apply a broad range of knowledge and skills in varied contexts and undertake skilled work. This qualification is suitable for experienced operators, technicians and trade workers. This qualification is not suitable for direct from school.
Duration: 54 Weeks
Licensing and Regulatory requirements
There are no specific licences that relate to this qualification. However, all work must be carried out to comply with workplace procedures, in accordance with state/territory food safety, and work health and safety codes, regulations and legislation that apply to the workplace.
Packaging rules
To achieve this qualification, competency must be demonstrated in:

17 units of competency:

5 core units plus

12 elective units.

The electives are to be chosen as follows:

at least 6 units from elective Groups A – M
-
up to 3 units from elective Group N
-
up to 4 units from this or any other endorsed training package or accredited course. Elective units must ensure the integrity of the qualification’s Australian Qualification Framework (AQF) alignment and contribute to a valid, industry-supported vocational outcome.
Any combination of electives that meets the packaging rules above can be selected for the award of the FBP30121 Certificate III in Food Processing.
